I bought a new camper

OK perhaps it isn't a new Camper as it is a 1950,s Yellowstone. It resembles this one but the rear door on mine is on the back side

Sorry blogger isn't letting me upload .

   Maybe this link will work.

The camper I got is striped inside and has nothing original including wood . It is just the aluminum shell, floor , axels and windows of an early 50s Yellowstone, BUT for 250$ who cares!!!

Now I am not a Facebook junky like some but while I have been sick I have been on its yard sales and items for sale. Sometimes good items get posted cheap . This trailer was posted for 3 minutes before I had the lady on the phone arranging to get it. The only draw back was it was in a part of town known as Gates city. This area is like Chicago 1 am on a Friday night. I did see one gentleman getting cuffed and stuff a block from the house. I hooked up and it rode the 20 miles home like a champ.

I haven't made up my mind what I am going to do with it . A full restoration is beyond my ability both financially and skill wise. So that is out . I could just redo it as a camper but the wife isn't likely to go (she's spoiled) in it.

  1. Gary,
Sounds like a good deal for a classic. Add some new tires, a good scrubbing and you have a classic ready to go. The wife should by now, understand life can be unexpectedly short and needs to enjoy any opportunity to be happy and at peace with ones self.

    1. Mike I will probably be getting a 5th wheel to travel in this fall. We are seeing a lot of older ones with super slides in our price range .Since my truck got fixed I have a lot of options.

    2. I have owned a 5th wheel and I like them the best. At my age hooking up a standard trailer with spring bars is painful. The 5th is simply backing up into the pin box which is always in plain sight until it couples. Raise the electric landing gear, plug it in and away you go!

    3. Mike today we looked at a 2003 aero lite 31 ft.5th wheel that was only 6700# . It looked like new was senior owned for only 6,500 $.My trucks factory rated for 7500#.

  2. Heck, use the shell as is. Sleep on a cot or a foam pad on the floor if you prefer. Open plan allows far more versatility. Install essential parts as you go, the heavier parts over the axles. To me, a trailer is just a place to crash and store your stuff when on the road and when outside weather is bad.

    1. I will probably do a minimum as far as camper. I think it will make a nice Shaved Ice/hotdog vending trailer.
