We are kicking the habit !!!!

The wife and I have decided to quit smoking.Boy that may not sound hard but i have smoked 32 years and the wife over 40 years. We have tried before it was ugly verrry ugly.Cold turkey is almost impossible, gum my cheek looked like a chipmunks, the patch we could have cover our whole body and still wanted a cig.
My wife even tried the Chiantis but blamed my smoking on her starting back.I cant take the Chiantis due to the side effects.Last week while removing that sheet metal i was getting winded quick.I have had enough, my father and grandfather died of strokes so i try to watch my health.
Since i have been out of work :) i have had to watch the money but have smoked so long that it was just lumped as weekly spending.Separating our smoking and doing the math was a shock we both smoked a pack and a half a day.
  3 packs at 4.00 ea
  90 a month that's 360.00
So Wednesday we got the evod vape system so far neither of us has even wanted a cigarette.sure its still nicotine but if we can slowly reduce the nicotine I think we will make it.Oh the cost for us looks like it will be 35 to 45 a month both.
Wish us luck  this time i am going to quit.

  1. Good Luck

I smoked for 30 plus years; and enjoyed each and every cigarette. I quit 12 years ago after my Dad died from lung cancer. Quitting is hard work - worse than losing weight in my opinion.

I never realized how bad smokers smell till after I'd been quit about a year; stinky suckers...

  2. At $360 a month that alone should be the motivation to quit. Get tough and kick this addiction!

    1. Mike when we seperated the cost out as a standalone cost my jaw dropped. We chose the e-cig Vaping system because it is a nicotine delivery that cost 5$ a week and we control the rate of withdrawl. thanks for the support

    2. From 1975- 1979 I smoked cigarettes consistently. Then I tried to quit, but I couldn't so I smoked cigars for a few years. Then I tried to quit, but I couldn't, so I smoked a pipe. I never could quit the pipe, the best I could do was cut down on how often I smoked it. Now I usually only smoke it if I'm stressed out , or just want to feel good like tobacco makes you feel, which isn't often. I quit cigarettes because we had a squadron safety stand down, and the doctor brought in some guys lungs in a jar who had been a smoker. That got me started on quitting but tobacco is really addictive.

    4. Some of mine belonged to my dad, and some I got thirty years ago. I have plenty of pipes and they smoke cool and dry.

  3. Good for you! It really is a very difficult thing to do, but it will be so very worth it, from both the health and the financial standpoints.

  4. don't be discouraged. some say that even after quitting years ago they get sudden urges for a cigarette. it really is an addiction.
the thing about it is not the nicotine but the smoke ruins your lungs and when smoke-filled you are shorting yourself on oxygen. depending on other factors that could drop you dead in a millisecond.
my dad died of lung cancer, not from smoking but from the filthy air in suco, the dye factory where he worked. all the other men he worked with died the same way.
God help you stick with it. you do want to be there for your grandchildren, right?
